FAREWELL TO AUGUST
We shall miss you…August…the symbol of summer. We’ll remember your Sun and blue skies and your clouds and your cooling rain. We shall look back on the fun times you provided, dear August, your picnics in the park, the sound of bat on ball, the roses, the daisies, and the shining yellow of your sunflowers. We shall miss the walks amidst the trees you filled to the fullest with leaves upon leaves so green and so comforting. So many leaves that made us think that summer would never end. We thank you for so many things…the laughter of children sailing on swings, their legs stretching to the sky, The refreshing taste of grapes and watermelon and peaches and apples. We won’t forget your glorious sunrises with their colors of yellow and orange and red. The heat of your noontimes and the calm of your sunsets the radiant sun slowly sinking into the Western sky. Then, the gradual fading of your light and finally darkness signaling the end of another day. Go now, August, into the heavens…go with the contentment of knowing you have provided much happiness to those of us you are leaving behind. We shall miss you, August, but our loneliness is lessened when we remember one final thing about you August. You will be back.
Dear Readers, I wish you a happy Autumn.
